Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum points score needed?

You need at least 65 points to submit an Expression of Interest. However, due to high competition, recent invitation rounds have gone to candidates with 80-90+ points.

How much do the 189, 190 and 491 visas cost?

The main application charge is AUD $4,910 for the primary applicant (from 1 July 2025), with additional charges for a partner and any children. Budget separately for your skills assessment, English test, and medicals.

What's the difference between 189, 190 and 491?

Subclass 189 is independent (no sponsorship needed) and grants permanent residency. Subclass 190 requires state/territory nomination and grants PR. Subclass 491 is employer or family sponsored, regional, and grants provisional residency with a pathway to PR.

Can my occupation be on the list?

There are hundreds of eligible occupations across engineering, IT, healthcare, trades, and more. Book a consultation and we'll check your occupation.
